Prayerfully Speaking

Hope from the Truths of God's Word

A Blanket from Heaven

“…on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

It is clear that this is no prayer to pray if we wish to remain the same. To pray this prayer is to invite God to radically redirect our existence forever. It is to invite heaven’s power to overlap earth through the medium of your life! It is to export heaven’s influence to earth,…

YesterdayI read the above quote and haven’t stopped seeing an image like the one  in this post.  Imagine you, your family, your church as these soldiers covering the football field with the flag.  In prayer, we partner with God to blanket the life of a person, a group, a country with the power that comes from the unlimited God.  The photo helps me envision “covering” an issue in prayer.

The phrase “through the medium of your life” indicates more than asking God for something. When I read it, I hear action. I see relationships that might not be easy, but ones we endure for the sake of one person experiencing the love of Christ. Ephesians 3:19 says that when we experience the love of Christ, then we will be made complete with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.  Who doesn’t need His perfect love, completeness, fullness, power in their life?

I am asking God to show me who in my life needs this blanket. What about you? Who can you cover with the love of Christ in prayer, in word and in deed?

The quote is from one of my favorite blogs: Connection: Devotions for Every Day Life

About Jennifer O. White

I’m a simple wife who has discovered God’s amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you’ve ever imaged.
