a Prayer for Someone Who is Struggling

Early Sunday morning, I searched the internet for prayers for friends who are struggling. I found great wisdom straight from scripture that taught me how to intercede for them. (amazing!)

We can pray verses of the Bible over people and know that we are asking in unison with what God wants for His children. — John 15:7  For me, doing this takes the doubt out of praying. I can ask in faith and trust it is in His will when I invite Him to do what He says He can and will do for people.

Here is a prayer based on Scripture that invites healing for those who are struggling and held captive by fear.

God, I cry out to You for help knowing that you are listening. –Psalm 34:15

I come asking You to restore joy to ___________ who is struggling and being burdened with fear.

I ask You to meet __________ at the area of their greatest need, and “bind up their broken heart. — Isaiah 61:1.

Thank You for your promise to be near the those who are brokenhearted and those crushed in spirit. — Psalm 34:18

Where there is sorrow and fear, I ask You to replace that sorrow and turn it into the oil of gladness. — Isaiah 61:3

I celebrate that You will use this trial to produce patience in ____________ and grow them in dependence on You to meet their needs. — James 1:2-4, Psalm 34:10

Bring ____________ to a fresh and deeper level of knowing how BIG Your love for them is. You’ve promised that will make them complete, filled with life and power that is from You. — Ephesians 3:18-19

I trust Your love and provision for ___________ is available and You are able to do so much more than I know how to ask or imagine for them. Ephesians 3:20

In this situation, I trust You and promise not to lean on my own understanding or ideas of what should happen for them.  I will trust You with their heart and their healing. — Proverbs 3:4-5

In the name of Jesus, I ask these things so that You will be known. Amen — John 14:13

Our God has the answers and the power to overcome evil and produce a good – no – GREAT result. If we know God by knowing His Word, we will know how to intercede. We will be effective in bringing His will from heaven to earth.

Is there another verse that comes to your mind to pray for someone who is struggling with trials and fear?

Awesome ideas to bring to a place of worship, not thinking of ourselves but others in our midst.

  3. And for being close in mine as well. Your inspiration has been a ray of hope in what seems a very dark time sometimes. You alays seem to know when to call, jump online, or write just what I need to hear. You are a true vessel of God.

Jennifer, I just discovered your blog as I was searching for something to say to a dear friend who was troubled about her son. I copied the prayer and personalized it for her and sent it to her. She was so thankful for it! And I am very thankful to you. This prayer is beautiful. I know it will bless many people and it is a great framework on how to pray for others in so many situations.
