Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Knowing the Burden Bearer and Book Release News

God is the burden bearer and freedom navigator

I have so much to tell you, I don’t know where to start! Let’s start with the new book, Hope for Your Marriage! I’m finished writing it, the last edits are being reviewed today, and I’m waiting on one last endorsement. I’m not sure how long it will take to format it for Kindle and print. I’m guessing I’m a week away from inviting you to pre-order my book on Amazon! YAY!

Your choice to pre-order the book is very helpful to me. It helps affect the rankings which will help more people see the book when searching on Amazon. I’m putting together fun and helpful bonuses (free stuff) for people who pre-order. One of them is an online prayer conference! Stay tuned for details!

Have you ever struggled to move beyond something painful? I’ve been wrestling with that for a while and God has been faithfully leading me to higher ground. I want to share a few of the ways He has been encouraging me trusting that you can apply it to a situation in your life.

The Spirit of the Lord whispered to me, “Let me carry the burden of “_______.” This is not the first time He’s tried to help me see Him as my burden bearer. I suppose I was more ready to hear it now. His Words settled my soul and helped me experience His compassion and friendship.  Psalm 68:19 NASB says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah.” I’ve been walking with the Lord, but not grasping His role of bearing this burden. Now, I envision myself handing the burden over to Him and I feel relieved that I don’t have to analyze it, ruminate about it, or carry it into the next season of my life. I’m filled with hope and relief because my hands and my heart are free to grasp new things. If I need to deal with it again, I trust God will invite me to a conversation about it. Until then, I’m moving on.

Have you heard the verse, “Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom?” In the wee hours of the morning, I was praying that verse back to the Lord reminding myself that I am free because His Spirit is with me. The burden I mentioned above has tentacles wrapped around other areas of my life that keep me from living as free as I want to. That is what I was praying about. While praying this verse, the Lord showed me a boat resting upside down in the woods. I realized the boat was out of place. Boats are supposed to be in or resting near the water. Why was the boat in the woods. Then I remembered a verse in John 6 that stood out to me a few years ago.

John 6:21 – “Then they were eager to let him in the boat, and immediately they arrived at their destination!” (emphasis mine)

The disciples had been waiting by the shore for Jesus to return. At dark, they decided to row the boat to the next town thinking He might have gone ahead of them. They rowed for hours and a severe storm came up. Jesus approached them walking on the water. When He got in the boat with them, they immediately arrived at their destination.

I don’t begin to understand all this moment in time might mean. What I believe Jesus is saying to me is this: “Get in the boat and I’ll show up when you find yourself in a scary spot. In the boat with me, you’ll get to freedom fast!” So now, my conversation with Jesus is, “I put myself in the boat with you.” I don’t really know what it all means, but I am declaring my willingness to pursue the freedom He is offering me.

Getting in the boat is similar to the woman with the issue of blood pressing through the crowd to touch Jesus and receive her healing. It is an active pursuit of Jesus, the One who heals, the One who moves us quickly where we are supposed to go next.

If you are feeling stuck in grief, pain, indecision or a really difficult situation, I want to encourage you to pursue your promised freedom. Tell Jesus you are ready to move forward with Him. Ask Him to fill you with His perspective of the situation. Ask Him what your next step is. Ask Him who He is to you in this situation. Maybe He wants you to see Him as Your burden bearer. Maybe He wants you to know Him as the One who will intervene in Your storm and move you to the next destination. Maybe it’s something different and equally as wonderful!

Here’s my prayer for you or for the person in your life who desires a new level of freedom.

May our God give you the boldness to believe you are not alone. May He grant you extravagant faith that He is actively pursuing you and the very best for you. May His Spirit help you transfer your burden into His hands so you are free to move forward! Amen
