Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Change

The line, “they will never change!” is a major pet peeve of mine.

Change is hard. But it is not impossible.  And when it happens, it  is beautiful.

My friend, Sundi Jo, is living proof that change is hard….beautiful….amazing…..REAL!

When we met, she was hiding her pain. The two most obvious ways she hid her raw emotions were overeating and being funny. She rarely looked anyone in the eye and hugs were not on the menu.

Much has CHANGED in Sundi Jo’s life in the last few years. Her new apartment is no longer hers. Her new job is no longer hers. Her dad is no longer alive. Her grandfather is gone too. Her gallbladder is gone. Her mom moved to a different country (for a while). Her best friend got married. She lost sleep, a lot of sleep.

Meanwhile she lost over 150 pounds. She gave up her independence for an entire year! She lost an enormous amount of pride. She gave up the ability to use the internet, watch TV and to talk on the phone when she wants.

But in all of this loss, in all of this excruciating change, Sundi Jo found peace of mind. Regardless of the horrors she endured in her childhood, she has Joy! And on Saturday, she told me that she is learning not to let her circumstances steal her joy!

Sundi Jo Marie Graham’s transformed life inspires me to a great faith in the God who promises:  ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”(did you notice this verse engraved on the stone entrance to the Christian school in the movie, The Blind Side?)

God has illuminated the darkness of her life with His truth and change took place. What a loving God. He is redeeming all that was lost and has replaced it with more than anyone could have dreamed for Sundi’s life.

Celebrate with me the power of Christ that lives in us to move mountains and turn ashes into beauty.

About Jennifer O. White

I'm a simple wife who has discovered God's amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you've ever imaged.

It’s a very beautiful thing to watch. So happy for Sundi Jo and proud of her!

  2. What a great friend you are to Sundi Jo. I have been mesmerized every time I see her. She has been transformed inside and out. We both enjoy sharing the things God is teaching her. She told me on Mother’s Day that she was finally able to look you in the eyes and have a conversation. It meant so much to her. Your blog is so inspiring and I hope and pray that it will help others. Thank you Jennifer for being you and being real.
