Doing Nothing

In my last post I promised a follow-up blog on my life as an oak tree. I’m still thinking about this and apologize for my delay. But here’s the problem: I do too much! And so, I have neglected the “planted by streams of living water” portion of being an oak tree. I feel tired. I feel depleted. I need to “do nothing”.

I was inspired today as Ted Cunningham, my pastor, preached on discovering “What Lies Beneath” the surface of our lives.  He challenged us to become still before God and just “be”. But that would require “doing nothing”. And I am not so good at this.  I confess that I need God’s supernatural help to “do nothing” enough to enjoy Him.

This picture has inspired me most of all this past week. I see love and stability.  The look on this father’s face causes me to think of how I look in the arms of God and how he looks while He holds me.

My prayer is that I would rest in His loving arms like this child. Rest and “do nothing” more.

Please pray for this sweet baby girl, Anniston. She is a miracle of God. Her life proves the power of prayer and the love of our Father. She is the new grandchild of a friend.

About Jennifer O. White

I’m a simple wife who has discovered God’s amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you’ve ever imaged.
