Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Finding Rest & Hope for our Burdened Hearts

Crying out to Jesus.

It’s been the days when I knew I couldn’t make it, would not succeed, and HAD to have help that I’ve cried out  -Help Me Jesus. Those have been the most sincere and child-like prayers of my life. I didn’t come to the table trying to pray correctly – which means I didn’t show up with an agenda and an idea that if I say this and bring up this then He will surely do this for me. I just showed up in tears and desperation for help.

In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. Psalm 18:6

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22

The words of this song describe those days, those situations when we can just “cry out” to Him for help.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. Psalm 62:5-6 NIV

Here is another great song to remind and comfort us that we can lay our burdens down before our mighty King, Abba Father, Rescuer, Deliverer,Defender, the Lover of our souls, our Creator – and on and on the list goes. (click on the title to hear the song on YouTube)

Lay “em Down by Need to Breathe (lyrics below)

Come down to the river
Come and let yourself in
Make good on a promise
To never hurt again
If you’re lost and lonely
You’re Broken down
Bring all of your troubles come lay ’em down

All you sinners
And the weak at heart
All you helpless
On the boulevards
Wherever you are now
Whatever evil you’ve found
Bring all of your troubles
And come lay ’em down

We’re all tied to the same old failings
Finding shelter in things we know
We’re all dirty like corrupted small towns
We’ll bring our troubles
We’ll bring our troubles lay ’em down
All you rich men
And the high above
All those with and without love
All you burdened Broken down
Bring all of your troubles
Come lay ’em down

About Jennifer O. White

I’m a simple wife who has discovered God’s amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you’ve ever imaged.

Beautiful post! Both songs are beautiful, but Cry Out to Jesus is my favorite. I’m going to send it to my kids. Both are very powerful. The whole post is very powerful! Thank you.
