Prayerfully Speaking

Hope from the Truths of God's Word

I sat at the board room table so frustrated I couldn’t leave the room with the rest of the team. Thirty minutes later a friend came in to discuss the news we had both heard and noticed that I was on the verge of a meltdown of the tearful sort. He allowed me to vent and vent and vent. And then he prayed for me.

I will never forget this part of his sweet prayer: “And God I ask that you fill in the gaps for Jennifer.” Those words were BIG news to me. I had never considered God in the role of filling in the gaps – my empty places.

Last week, I scanned my twitter messages and saw a post from @JamesMacDonald.

I have to admit, I was just a little bit thankful to read that James MacDonald feels the gap too.  His scripture reference, Exodus 4:12 says, “Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”  Moses felt the gap in his speaking ability and God said  – “I’ve got it covered” (my paraphrase). And God provided Aaron and his leading/speaking career began. Don’t miss Moses’ conversation with God in Exodus chapter 4.

This has been a year of recognizing the gaps and learning to ask God to fill them with His unlimited resources. In Ephesians 3:16, Paul prayed that from His (God’s) glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit.

Today, I saw Him display His unlimited resources in bringing an incredible opportunity to one of our authors. He filled in the gap between what we could accomplish and the result we hoped to achieve. What a gift! What a Gift-Giver!

Have gaps in your life? Financial? Relational? Skills?  Ask for help and watch Him do what only He can do to fill them.  His amazing grace applied to your need = more than we can ask or imagine!  That’s good news friends!

I would love to hear how God has filled in your gaps?

I’m a simple wife who has discovered God’s amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you’ve ever imaged.
