Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Making Room for Jesus

The praise band led us in Joy to the World today. After decades of singing this hymn, this time I really heard – “Let every heart prepare Him room”.  Hmmm…. a prayer – after all these years – I was singing a prayer.  I don’t know about you, but I need these type of clues on how to pray for myself and for others.

So, I made a quick list of how I can pray this for myself, my dear ones and even strangers I stand next to in Walmart:

  • Help us take time (make room) to experience the gift of love God sent to us in Jesus.
  • God please help her to open a slot in her schedule to be still and listen so You can reveal Yourself to her today.
  • God, please help him believe (make room in his mind and heart) You have a future ahead of him that is bigger than what he sees now.
  • God, my friend needs to see You as you truly are. Help her to open her eyes (make room in her mind) and see the real You.
  • God, You’ve told us that we can entertain angels when we are unaware. Help me to make room in my mind and my minutes to be salt and light to those around me.
  • Here is my schedule Lord. Show me what to combine, change and delete so that I am still enough to hear you and experience Your presence.
  • God, she seems really hurt. Help her to make room in her heart to let you love her and heal her.

We are promised that when we ask according to His will, He is faithful to answer our prayers. I am confident that asking for help to make room for Him in our lives is something He will say YES to.

How would you pray this one line of Joy to the World? Or have you found other one liners in songs or cards that helped you?  Please leave your ideas below in the comment section.
