Meet the Family: Katie “Nana” Mott

Meet Katie Hoyt Mott, my mom’s mom. MANY people know her and love her because she taught Home Economics at Rapides High School (LeCompte, LA) for over 30 years. I was privileged to be her student during her last year of teaching.   She taught hundreds of girls to be excellent cooks, seamstresses, and managers of the home.

I am very proud of the heritage I have in her. She’s an outstanding woman who has survived much in her lifetime. I have learned so much from her and continue to treasure her.

Get to know “Nana” in this video my brother created as a short documentary of her life experiences.

If you knew her, please leave a comment telling me what you love about her. If you just met her, let me know who her story has inspired you.

About Jennifer O. White

I'm a simple wife who has discovered God's amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you've ever imaged.

  1. What a beautiful video of a woman steeped in grace at a time when people faced serious challenges, but learned to focus on what was really important. We need to treasure not just the moments we live, but the people God gives us to share them with. Thank you for sharing a little bit of Katie with us!
