My Early Morning Joy Routine

My morning routine is beginning to work for me. During the 4:8 Principle: Secrets to a Joy Filled Life Bible study, I was encouraged to start an early morning joy routine. Sticking with this routine has been my #1 goal for the 3in30 Challenge.  This is what it looks like:

Read My Utmost for His Highest
Read the Daily Bible Reading posted below the Utmost devo.
Rehearse Philippians 4:8
Submit my mind, mouth, and actions to God and place myself under His authority
Answer the 4:8 Questions & email my answers to two friends (accountability)
Visualize specific prayers being answered

Within the first hour of work yesterday, I bumped into circumstances that caused me to be frustrated and doubt my abilities. I began coaching myself to think on things that are good, lovely, praiseworthy, etc . I felt a little attacked and the 4:8 principle started to kick in automatically. I was surprised and excited to see that after a month or more of starting each day with this Early Morning Joy routine, living Philippians 4:8 is becoming automatic. YAY!!!

I’m so grateful to God for knowing my needs, offering me a solution, and supplying the will to participate. I am changing and I like the change.  I am becoming equipped to be peaceful and stable regardless of the circumstances. That could only be Jesus and His principles for living at work in me.

How about you? Do you have a morning routine that is producing Joy in your life? I would love to hear how God has led you to fortify your mind to shine a light on Him regardless of what comes your way.

    Jennifer,

My prayer goes like this, “God, today, please bring my every thought, word, deed and action under the authority of your Word.” Praise God for His faithfulness!

Debbie – I love that – “under the authority of Your Word!” Thanks for sharing

  5. That is my go-to verse when I have negative thoughts. Such an encouraging verse! 🙂

  6. Perfect timing to come across your post! I just started a new morning routine…tomorrow will be day 4. I even decided to stick to it on the weekends (for now anyway! LOL). Thanks for sharing…I often feel like I’m the *only* one who feels a certain way.

Hi Sarah. I’m excited you are working on a morning routine. I’m trying to stick to mine on weekends too. Its GOD that I’m still doing it.

  7. Mornings are so hard for me. This has been my #1 3in30 goal this month too. When I spend that time preparing for the day, it is so much easier to handle whatever is thrown at me. That looks like a great book and a great morning routine.

Amanda – Thank you so much for stopping by and reading about my #3n30 goals & morning routine. The book has truly helped me in something I’ve struggled with for YEARS. I hope you check it out.

      1. Hi Jennifer. Your post was a true “God-send” for me too. I’ve just got to the end of my current Christian book (“Do You Think I’m Beautiful” by Angela Thomas) and I wanted to start an early morning “time” as part of my 3 in 30! I checked out the book and it’s now on my Kindle, ready to go on Monday morning. Thank you. ~Nicky

  8. Loved your post! I’m still not involved in a bible study or local church, after moving to my moms to care for her so I’m always searching for ways to get some spiritual ‘food’. 🙂

One of my morning tricks I added to my routine, years ago, involves my coffee/tea mug. Our bible study agreed to have a one line prayer we all said each time we used our mugs! It has been a great reminder to me………….and always brings a smile to my face.

    Thanks so much for sharing!
