Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Free from Doubt, Fear and Pride {Praying for a Confidence Revival}

scripture prayer confidence in God

Declaring war on fear, doubt and pride sounds exhausting. Maybe even defeating. But our role in fighting these three biggies can be as simple as abiding in and declaring God’s Truth – the Light. Ephesians 6 tells us to stand our ground putting on the belt of truth and the armor of righteousness.

We can stand our ground by worshipping Him instead of ourselves and our failures. And we can pray God’s Word, knowing that the sword of His Spirit will slice away the slime of our sin.

We are embarking on a Confidence Revival!

scripture prayer confidence in GodLord, I invite you to paint the canvas of my life with confidence in You.

Cover over my habit of doubt with this assurance, “The Lord always keeps His promises to me. He is gracious to me in all He does.” (Psalm 145:13 NLT)

Use vivid colors of joy to cover my mind and heart. Replace the heaviness of my spirit with the  joy that comes from being in Your presence and knowing how faithful, compassionate, and powerful You are. (Psalm 16:11)

With the permanent ink of Your Word, bend the knees of my will and self-reliance. (Romans 14:11)

Let my eyes always look at You with wonder and expectation instead of fear and shame. (Psalm 27:4)

Place my hands on your ankles, the same way the Shunnamite woman confidently and relentlessly engaged Elisha when she needed him to intervene. (2 Kings 4:27-30)

Arm me with a telescope that assists me in looking past the doubts, fear and pride so I remain focused on Your truth and Your light. (Isaiah 9:2)

I want my reflection to be hand drawn by You so that I see what You see – a fragile container of Your very own powerful Spirit. (2 Corinthians 4:7)

Let me be known for my confident assurance in You. I want to react as faithfully as Elisha. Use me Lord to bring Your will into the world around me as it is in Heaven. (2 Kings 4:8-37, James 5:17, Matthew 6:10)

With the name of Jesus in my heart and on my lips, I pray. Amen

Go deeper in your conversation with God with these prayer prompts:

  • Confess specific doubts and fears
  • Ask God to reveal your pride to you, so that you can confess it
  • Invite God to bring your attention to opportunities to rely on Him more completely
  • Apply Ephesians 3:20 and 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 to your own life and be specific: In the area of ________, I am weak, BUT GOD is not. God, I invite You to rest Your power on this weakness (___________). I believe You will do this very thing and that You will use me to accomplish Your purposes in me and others in Your kingdom.
