Prayerfully Speaking

Hope from the Truths of God's Word

I am enjoying a new Bible Study by Kay Arthur, Lord Teach Me to Pray. This week has been refreshing discovery on the character of God. Kay teaches us to rehearse the character of God in worship.

In these three prayers (1 Samuel 2:1-10, Jeremiah 32:16-25, and Daniel 2:19-23) I found God to be:

  • the strongest
  • holy
  • the God of all knowledge
  • powerful over life and death
  • able to give people plenty or little at all
  • guardian of saints
  • judge
  • strengthener
  • full of loving kindness
  • one who repays sin
  • the perfect counselor
  • mighty in action/works
  • rewarder based on our fruitfulness
  • known by His signs and wonders
  • giver
  • one who causes calamity
  • one whose Word comes true
  • revealer of secrets
  • wise and powerful
  • able to change seasons and time
  • appoints kings and removes them
  • giver of wisdom and knowledge
  • reveals secrets
  • light (truth & purity) dwells in Him

This week, I have seen God’s character in many ways. Here are a few, I’d like to share:

  • powerful over life and death; He saved my step-sister and her child from death.
  • God of all knowledge; He taught me new and important concepts through this Bible study, my friend Paula, my Pastor, and several other friends.
  • strengthener; He has strengthened me physically, emotionally and spiritually.
  • full of loving kindness; He granted my family peace and healing during the trauma of my sister’s childbirth.
  • the perfect counselor; He answered my prayers for guidance as I discussed important issues with several friends.
  • reveal secrets; He showed me His calling for someone and encouraged me to pray with her.
  • mighty in action & works; He has lavished me with the help I need in my job through offerings of volunteers. He lavishes me daily with love, affection, and provision through my sweet husband.

Wow! This blog has opened my eyes to His persistent participation in my life. I pray He will reveal even more of what He has done for me that I have missed.

Thank you Lord for being all of these things to me and to each of your children. Open my eyes to see You.  You deserve all of my affection and attention.  I receive Your affection and attention and recognize that I have not done anything to deserve it.  Amen

About Jennifer O. White

I’m a simple wife who has discovered God’s amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you’ve ever imaged.
