The Rich and Satisfying Life Jesus Wants for You

God gives the satisfying life

Prayer for Real Joy

By this point in the Joy Mission journey, it’s possible that you’ve grown a little weary. If we were to sit and talk for a while, you might even want to tell me that you just don’t see how it’s possible for you to be joyful because of situations you’re facing.

I’ve been there, fellow journey-er. Even in the midst of writing these posts for us, I’ve encountered some difficult situations that I’d rather just avoid. But God won’t let me stick my head in the sand and He won’t let me be swallowed up by the quicksand of circumstances beyond my control! Instead, He draws me closer to Himself and gives me signs that He is always vigilant for my good in all things.

Most recently, He’s brought the French phrase “joie de vivre” to my attention. So I looked it up (Webster’s Learners Dictionary) and gave it our Biblical worldview:

True Joie de vivre:

  • keen or buoyant enjoyment of life as one follows Christ
  • joy of living the life Christ died to give you
  • a feeling of happiness or excitement about having eternal life with God, with that life beginning here on earth.

This is what John 10:10 (NLT) says:  “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” Let that sink in.

God gives the satisfying life

And Psalm 16:11 (NET) says: “You lead me in the path of life; I experience absolute joy in your presence; you always give me sheer delight.”

Jesus died so you could have the rich and satisfying life He wants for you!  I’ll say it again: Jesus wants you to have a rich and satisfying life. God leads you in the path of life so that you can have absolute joy and sheer delight.

When we look at our lives from that perspective, we can see that true joie de vivre comes from a life enjoyed in Christ. The world’s way is empty. We can’t let the prince of this world steal what Jesus wants for us.

As disciples of Jesus, we should be known for our joie de vivre. We should be the happiest, most visibly joyful people they know because of the joy we have been given!

Pray with me:

“Lord, I ask for YOUR joie de vivre to flood my soul. Let true Spirit-joy bubble up and out of my heart and mouth as I share the life I have been given. Please show me how to exhibit joy openly and extravagantly to people I meet today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Deliberately share extravagant joy with someone today. Let God lead you out of your comfort zone and watch what happens as you step out in faith!

One last thing:

We want to hear how God shows off in your life today. We know He will and we can’t wait to rejoice with you! Please share with us here on the blog or in the Joy Missions group on Facebook.

About Jennifer O. White

I'm a simple wife who has discovered God's amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you've ever imaged.
