Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Settling My Soul

This is straight from my devotional reading this week. It’s changing me. I’ve always been a “striver” in relationships. And I’ve been known to put pressure on myself to be more. This devo is settling my soul. I trust God will use it to reveal His truth to you too.

Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

My child, do not be anxious concerning the growth of your soul. Leave it with Me. Have I not said that the lilies grow without taking thought of themselves? So must you, both in the natural and in the spiritual.

To be sure, there are conditions that must be met to insure healthy, normal development; however, these conditions are not created by anxiety, for it only works against them.

Be occupied with acquainting yourself with My character and My person. Revel in My fellowship. Your very association with me, if sufficiently consistent, will bring about changes in your personality that will surprise you when discovered, just as you have so often experienced the joy of finding a bloom on a cherished plant.

Turn your face toward Me, and leave to me the responsibility of probing your soul. I am the Master Surgeon. I am skilled in all the cures of the soul as well as those of the body. Let Me care for your health.

Delight yourself in Me, and I will bring about what you desire to see in your character and personality. Feed up My Word. It is there you will come to a clearer understanding of My Person. Only as you know Me can yo come to be more like Me.

In association with others, people take to themselves a measure of the mannerisms and ideologies of these other persons. So will it be for those who spend much time in My company.

Silently, and without conscious effort, you will be changed.

About Jennifer O. White

I’m a simple wife who has discovered God’s amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you’ve ever imaged.

Two thoughts, not that FJR needs an adendum….
—you’ve been accepted in the beloved
—cease striving (be still) and know that I AM GOD. Ps. 46:10 NASB
These two are settling, I think.
    Thanks and love to you!
