Prayerfully Speaking

Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Slow, Intentional & Simple

“God’s design for taking the gospel to the world is a
slow, intentional, simple process
that involves every one of his people
sacrificing every facet of their lives
to multiply the life of Christ in others.

David Platt, Radical

This quote stopped me in my tracks last night. It’s like the Lord is saying, “Make sure you hear me on this, Jennifer”

So I am writing it out, and asking myself these questions:

  • Am I focused on taking the gospel to someone?
  • Is there someone close by that is waiting for me to show up and share?
  • Am I willing to GO somewhere to do this?
  • Will I rearrange my schedule? my vacation? my finances?
  • What will I sacrifice financially to “take” Jesus to someone else?
  • Do I believe I am able to accomplish this?
  • Do I care enough about someone besides myself to change my current circumstances to make this happen?
  • How can I be intentional about taking the Good News of Jesus to someone today?
  • Am I prepared for the process to be slow?
  • Have I been “complicating” the process in my mind when it is really “simple?

I obviously have much to chew on mentally here.  I want to prayerfully process this with God.

What about you? Do you accept the quote as true for you?

I challenge you to ask yourself these questions today and again tomorrow, and on and on…

Later this week I will share the story of two women who are living this quote out loud. Both leave for the Ukraine this weekend. They are traveling to Kiev to take the gospel. I can’t wait for you to hear how both recognized the “SLOW” part of the process.

About Jennifer O. White

I’m a simple wife who has discovered God’s amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you’ve ever imaged.
