Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Spiritually Stronger in 2017

prayers for spiritual strength

Are you ready for a fresh start? Are you looking forward to 2017 with hope that God is delighting in the details of your life? He is you know. Check this out!

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Psalm 37:23

That verse is truly transforming my mindset. I hope it’s blowing your mind right now.

For the last several years, I’ve chosen a word that directs my prayer focus for the year instead of creating New Year’s Resolutions. The first one was Prayer. Then Intimacy. Last year’s word was Abide. I’m amazed at how patient God is with me. I would love to tell you that I aced abiding with Him the way I had hoped. I didn’t. But I’m learning to focus on progress instead of perfection. I did abide with Him and every bit of it was fruitful. One of the most impactful ways I learned to abide with Him was through the act of taking personal communion. Wow.

This year my word is Adore. Actually I have a phrase this year which is, “Adore the One who delights in you.” I am excited to embark on this extended adventure of adoration and I look forward to sharing it with you.

Do you have a word for 2017?

While you are thinking about that, let me encourage you to study the prayer found in Ephesians 3:14-21. I recently shared how we can pray this for ourselves on this podcast for homeschool moms. It’s a 40 minute talk highlighting 5 simple prayers from this passage in Ephesians. I’m sharing a brief overview of the topics, prayers and Scriptures with you below.

God’s answers to these prayers will make us spiritually stronger and just imagine 2017 with more spiritual strength!

More Wonder and Joy

Prayer: Lord, I want to live in awe of who Jesus is to me, and what He has accomplished for me.

Scripture: When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. Ephesians 3:14-15

More Strength

Strengthen and energize me, Jesus. Let Your resurrection power invade every part of my life including my health, my relationships, and my thoughts.

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.” Ephesians 3:16

More Faith, Less Fear

Lord fill me with faith in who You are and what You can do, so that I am unhindered by fear.

“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.” Ephesians 3:17a

More Stable

Lord, let me experience more of Your love. Let it establish me. Let it complete me.

“Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:17-19

Accomplishing More

God, I believe You can use me to do more than I can imagine. Help me overcome my doubts. Use me to reveal Yourself to my husband, my family and beyond.

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21

Isn’t this exciting! Just imagine how God is ready and able to fortify us in these ways. We may not know what lies ahead of us in 2017, but we know the magnificent One who can prepare us, direct us, and sustain us through it all.

May God use the truths and prayers from Ephesians 3:14-21 to help us see His delight in every detail of our lives.
