Stand! Your Battle Posture
I’ve been busy writing Prayers for New Brides: Putting on the Armor After the Wedding Dress. This week, I tackled explaining the spiritual armor in this battle. Yes, battle. We, you and me, are in a battle with the enemy of our souls. And if you are married, your marriage is a target.
You might be thinking, “well that’s why I feel so beat up all the time!?” Yes, that is exactly why. Until we are with God in the perfection of Heaven, we will be in a fight.
Thankfully, as a Christ follower, we are enlisted and led by the Victorious One.
In Ephesians chapter six, we find specific instruction us to stand in this spiritual battle.Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. V 11
Therefore take the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. v 13
Imagine fighting a war sitting down? Seems like a ridiculous idea, right? Your fight for your marriage is not something you can put on hold while you pursue some other honorable mission. Sitting down on this one is not an option. You will get plowed down by a mighty force if you do not follow the instructions of the only One Who has the power to defeat the enemy. God tells us to STAND.
Standing as a victorious warrior bride in a spiritual battle for your marriage is holding your position. It’s a courageous stance proclaiming that you are confident in the One fighting for you. As you stand, you are exercising your faith in Jesus to not only defeat satan, but to also strengthen you to endure the attack.
The Imperfect Wives have asked me to share more on this posture of standing in the spiritual battle. Join me Tuesday, September 3rd at 9am cst for the Imperfect Wives live blog talk radio broadcast. The event will be recorded. You can go back to this link to listen anytime after the show.
