Prayerfully Speaking

Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Striving. Perspective. Dependence

“What is my vision of God’s purpose for me? Whatever it may be, His purpose is for me to depend on Him and on His power now.” Oswald Chambers

I’ve been praying for God to show me His perspective. This prayer has become my “default” prayer. Often I am not sure what the question really is. Do you come to that place too? Knowing you need to pray, but not sure what to ask for.

My experiences are yielding the big truth that my perspective does not equal my reality. BUT God’s perspective is my reality. And it is your reality.

Today, He has answered my prayer for His perspective via today’s My Utmost for His Highest devotional.

His purpose for me =  My dependence on Him and His power

I can get caught up in achieving a certain thing for God. My mind tells me that the end result with please Him. And perhaps it will. But the focus in my mind is achieving for Him. I want God to pat me on the head and say, “Good Job Jennifer. You have hit your mark today”.  And maybe I will and He will do just that.

But in that scenario, I am depending on me to do it for Him. It’s about me measuring up.

He is able! He is God. All power belongs to Him. He is all wisdom. He is the Creator. He is the beginning and the end of the story of my life.

Why not depend on Him?!

What would change if I began each day and each task with an acknowledgement of His power and plan, and my need for His help and guidance?

Could the end result be Peace, Confidence, and Joy?

Lately, I’ve been drawn to this verse – “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15 NLT

Six simple and powerful words. Answers to the often unspoken questions deep within my soul.

This is truth! Thank you God for sending me your perspective. My whole being relaxes as I take these six words in. I can depend on you. That is what you desire, my dependence on you.

How does your soul respond to those words?

  3. Remembering that God is the One who accomplishes His purposes in me and through me is like water for my soul. His power is made perfect in my weakness. I can rest in His care and look forward to what He will do. I can be still and KNOW that He is God.

I love this post. It is something that I struggle with too. It’s nice to be reminded that if we let Him be in control we can have peace. Very inspiring and was the icing on the cake after my Bible time this morning. Thank you.

I RETURN to God a portion of that which He has given me.
I REST in the knowledge that He is always with me.
I have been SAVED by my belief in Jesus Christ, who died for me.
I relax in the QUIETNESS of the day by letting go of my problems, and letting God guide me.
I have CONFIDENCE in Jesus hearing me in my prayers, because He said to his disciple Philip He would answer them if I asked in His name.
I receive STRENGTH each day of my life because of my faith in Jesus to guide, lead, direct and comfort me in life and in all of my troubles.
I acknowledge Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and know that He is ever present in my life.

That is a beautiful way to experience the words of Isaiah 32:15
      I love you BIG!

  7. That has been one of my all time favorite verses for quite awhile…and with good reason! I am a classic over-stimulated by noice, ruckus, computer, tv type personality…and the more of it there is, the less tuned-in I am to myself and my God! This is one of the verses that sends me back to my yoga mat with devotional in hand, or outside for a walk to talk with God and listen to the trees rustle, or over to the swimmin’ hole a few miles away to just listen to the water babble and feel the breeze in my hair…ALL of which result in me being a stronger, happier, restful and peaceful me, IF I also choose to tune in and listen…to Him. to the quiet. and breathe. In and out.
