Shattering Your Strongholds

Are you wrestling with strongholds or praying for someone who is? Lately, I have become more aware of the stronghold fear has been in my life. Just this week, I’ve realized that when I operate in fear, I miss the opportunity to experience delight.

Fear robs us of delight.Twitter

Fear has stolen far too much from me. I’ve been afraid to be me. I’ve been afraid to speak the truth. I’ve been afraid to be wrong, afraid to fail, and of rejection. I’ve been afraid to pray with people. I’ve allowed fear to be my lord and master in many areas of my life instead of Jesus. I’m so thankful to God for His mercy and His desire to deliver me from this. I have repented. I exalt God far above the tyranny of fear. He tells me throughout the Bible that I have no need to fear. He is the One who makes me more than a conqueror in Jesus.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10

I am really looking forward to being less fearful and much more courageous. I am reaching for more of the rich and satisfying life Jesus secured for me. Maybe you are too.

Below, I am sharing a powerful prayer I found in The Sword of the Spirit The Word of God: A Handbook for Praying God’s Word . I recommend this book! The author, Joy Lamb, reprinted the prayer I’m sharing with permission from the author of Shattering Your Strongholds. I have not read this book yet, but after reading and praying the prayer, I’ve added it to my list. The language of the prayer presents the authority we have in the Kingdom of God. This is an area where I am eager to grow.

May God use this prayer mightily in our lives and those we are praying for. Feel free to change the first line to fit the person or persons you are praying for.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind my and ______’s body, soul an spirit to the will and purpose of God for our life.

I bind our minds, wills and emotions to the will of God. I bind us to the truth and to the blood of Jesus. I bind our minds to the mind of Christ, that the very thoughts, feelings, and purposes of His heart would be within our thoughts.

I bind our feet to the paths of righteousness that our steps would be steady and sure. I bind us to the work of the cross with all of its mercy, grace, love, forgiveness and dying to self.

I loose every old, wrong, ungodly pattern of thinking, attitude, idea,  desire, belief, motivation, habit, and behavior from us. I tear down, crush, smash and destroy every stronghold associated with these things. I loose any stronghold in our life that has been justifying and protecting hard feelings against anyone. fI loose the strongholds of unforgiveness, fear and distrust from us.

In the name of Jesus, I Ioose the power and effects of any harsh or hard words (word curses) spoken to, about or by us. I loose all effects and bondages from us that may have been caused by mistakes we have made. Father, in the name of Jesus, I crush smash and destroy generational bondages of any kind from mistakes made at any point between generations. I destroy them right here, right now. They will not bind and curse any more members of this family.

I bind the strong man, satan, that I may spoil his house, taking back every material and spiritual possession he has wrongfully taken from us. I loose the enemy’s influence over every part of our body, soul, and spirit. I loose, crush, smash and destroy every evil device he may try to bring into our sphere of influence during this day.

I bind and loose these things in Jesus’ name. He has given me the keys and the authority to do so. Thank You Lord of the truth.

Joy Lamb added the following prayer:

May we all be loosed from the strongholds of anger, anxiety, competition, confusion, control, deceit, denial, depression, disease, disobedience, distress, distrust, doubt, envy, false security, fear, fornication, gossip, greed, guilt, hostility, immorality, immaturity, independence of God, isolation, jealously, lust, manipulation, oppression, prejudice, pride, rebellion, self-indulgence, sickness, suppression, violence and wickedness, procrastination, sibling rivalry, people pleasing attributes and intimidation.

I agree in Jesus’ name! Let it be so, Lord!
