The Good Morning Lord, I Surrender Prayer
Last week, our Bible Study group was encouraged to focus on the last words of the Lords Prayer.
Well, you might have learned it using the word “Thine”, but since we are well into 2014 and for the sake of my own prayer vocabulary, I’m going with “Yours”.
The teacher recommended we start our days declaring those three truths to the Lord.
What a great way to surrender our “it’s all about me” prone nature, right! I think the teacher was right about starting our day with this prayer. It doesn’t take very many minutes for that self of ours to move into the Officer and Commander position.
Now, imagine what God could do with the day if we aren’t trying to steal His show, run His Kingdom, and pretend we’ve got the power. Imagine who much more energy we’d have if we leave that up to God.
I think that is part of the point of Ephesians 3:20 —
Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.
Are you good at letting God be God?
Me either. But I’m praying this prayer and that is a start.
About Jennifer O. White
I'm a simple wife who has discovered God's amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you've ever imaged.
