Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Your Victorious Perspective and Mine

These words are transforming my perspective of life.

Ephesians 2:6 — For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. (emphasis mine)

In prayer, I’ve started verbally taking my place in heaven with Christ. Then I thank Christ for all He endured to make sure I am seated far above the enemy of my soul, my marriage, and my ministry. To be honest with you, there are days I’m confident of it and there are other days those words are hard to say. Not because I don’t want to believe it wholeheartedly, but because this truth is fiercely opposed. I’ve told a few friends that at times saying these words feels like I’m hiking up hill in four feet of mud.

Do you struggle to believe Christ has given you this place of honor and authority in the spiritual realm?

For too many years, I entertained weak, powerless thoughts about myself and others. My perspective was fearful. I felt vulnerable instead of victorious. I was blind to the reality of this truth. But, I’m waking up to it now. And even though I’m not doing an A+ job at living it out yet, I’m thinking truth-filled thoughts much more often.

Our Victorious Perspective

From where you and I are seated, we can see our spiritual enemy in a position of weakness. He has been defeated by the One who lives in us. Embracing this reality leads us to emotional and spiritual rest instead a fury of worry and panic.

Raise your hand if you want more rest for your mind.

In the Three Battlegrounds, Francis Frangipane explains our rest and position of power in spiritual warfare this way:

“To those who have been born again from above, He says, “Sit at My right hand, until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet” (Ps. 110:1). Before you go into warfare, recognize that it is not you that the devil is afraid of, it is Christ in you! We have been raised up and seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph. 2:6). This is why the Holy Spirit continues to speak to us that worship of God is our first response in battle. Position yourself in the Presence of God. Sit, at rest, in the knowledge that Christ has already made your enemies the footstool for your feet. From the position of rest, the Word of the Lord continues, “The Lord will stretch forth Thy strong scepter from Zion, saying, `Rule in the midst of Thine (Ps. 110:2).”

Rest precedes rule. Peace precedes power. Do not seek to rule over the devil until you are submitting to God’s rule over you. The focal point of all victory comes from seeking God until you find Him, and having found Him, allowing His Presence to fill your spirit with His peace. From full assurance at His right hand, as we rest in His victory, let us rule in the midst of our enemies. (emphasis mine)

I’m so grateful that God continues to help me comprehend more of the Good News. I pray that my victorious reality becomes the foundation for all my thoughts, words, and actions. I pray the same for you. Let’s pray this for each other.

The first section of my new book, Hope for Your Marriage, is a reminder that we fight from a place of victory. (Click here to see the full table of contents.) We are winning warriors because we are hidden behind the name and authority of Jesus Christ. As we seek to follow Jesus in every area of our lives, we are operating under the command of the One who makes us more than a conqueror. More than — not less than! Let yourself dream about the MORE for a few minutes. What is on the greater side of being the conqueror? May the Lord show us today!

Book Update

I really thought I would be asking you to pre-order the book today, but I’ve had a few setbacks in formatting. There is certainly a spiritual scheme at work to keep this book from being published. As always, I appreciate your prayers for God’s protection and power to move it to completion. I’m really excited to offer every person who orders the book a free ticket to an online conference: 9 Strategic Battle Plans for War Room Wives and other hope-filled helps. Stay tuned for details.

Frangipane reminds us that worship of God is our first response in battle. My friend, Carolyn Hill, has recorded the worship song Victor’s Crown to help us worship the Jesus as our Victorious Warrior. Click here to worship with her.
