Hope from the Truths of God's Word

Waiting for the Green Light from God

The “SLOW” process of serving and sharing Jesus with others is still on my mind. I want to make sure I don’t look at this great commission from Jesus through the “fast food”, “self-serve”, “drive-thru” eyes of our culture. So I’m meditating and blogging again on these wise words from David Platt:

“God’s design for taking the gospel to the world is a
slow, intentional, simple process

that involves every one of his people

sacrificing every facet of their lives
to multiply the life of Christ in others.

My dear friend,  Bible teacher, radio host, writer and speaker Lyn Smith is leaving tomorrow to serve our Lord in Kiev, Ukraine with Julie Gorman. (I shared Julie’s story with you yesterday.) Watch God’s timing in Lyn’s life leading to this trip.

God placed a yearning in my heart for overseas missions years ago, but not until after I was married and starting a family.  Some young couples do pick up and go, but my husband did not have the same desire.  He was in business with his Dad and involved in local activities, while I served in a thriving ministry.  We were busy in our church and raising our family, but from time to time I would remind God that I was available and willing to go on short or long term missions.  There were even a few opportunities I gently pursued, but for various reasons they didn’t work out.  So, remaining faithful to what Go d had given me to do here, I continued to lay at His feet this burning desire to go.

God began dramatically changing my life a few years ago.  In April, 2010, He launched a new speaking/writing ministry.  I began to pray that through this new ministry, doors would open that I could only dream of.  He took me on a journey of private study and prayer like none I had ever known.  Divine connections started happening, one of which was Julie Gorman.  During an interview on her radio show, I shared my personal journey with Jesus.  After hearing that, she asked me to go to the Ukraine with her to share my story with people there.  My heart soared!

God makes things happen in His time and way.  There were things He wanted to build into my life here before sending me overseas, but He gave me the passion for it early on so that when the opportunity came, I could shout, “Yes!” without hesitation.

“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said.  “and I will make you fishers of men.”  At once they left their nets and followed Him.  Matthew 4:19

What passion has God given you for His kingdom?  How ready will you be to say “Yes!” when He calls you to go?

Am I patiently waiting and yet intentionally preparing for the “GO” from God? Like Lyn, am I reminding Him that I’m available to serve?

Lord Jesus, I place my YES at Your feet and ask You to guide me in preparing to Go when and where You call me.

About Jennifer O. White

I’m a simple wife who has discovered God’s amazing gift of prayer. Here at Prayerfully Speaking I share my journey of unwrapping this gift. God invites us to ask Him, but His enemy works diligently to keep that from happening. I hope to offer you encouragement to believe God is ready to pour more into your life than you’ve ever imaged.

Your story really spoke to me and touched my heart. I’ve always had a burning desire to do ministry for God, but had no direction. Five years ago as I set at my job as a night auditor at a hotel a guest went out for a walk in the middle of the night and came back in prophesied over me. I’ve waited and wondered and prayed for thath prophesy to come true. Lately I have felt led to start writing. What you said about God making things happen in his time and his way and wanting things to happen in our lives before he “sends us out” to whatever his plan for me is. I really needed to hear that. Thank you. And God bless you deeply on you mission.
