Me? an Oak Tree

Ancient Tree Of Life, originally uploaded by MarkReqs.

In central Louisiana (where I spent the first 28 years of my life) you will find oak trees that look like the one in this photo. It takes a big vocabulary to find adjectives to describe these trees.

In my Bible Study last night I found the following verses telling me that I am like an oak tree. What?

Seriously….. here are the scriptures to back it up.

“Oaks of Righteousness” planted by God to display his glory.
Isaiah 61: 3

7-8″But blessed is the man who trusts me, God, the woman who sticks with God. They’re like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers—
Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf, Serene and calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season. Jeremiah 17:7-8 (The Message)

I’ve wanted to be like many different of people for different reasons, but trees have never entered the list.

Why and how does God want me to be like an Oak tree? Am I already like an Oak tree and if so, how did I get there?

More on me and God and Oak Trees tomorrow.
